MOPS CLI is a powerful command line tool for texturing and compressing your 3D assets and bringing them to the Web. It is currently available for Windows and Linux.

The following 3D asset (3D scanning by Fraunhofer IGD), a 3D-scanned figurine, has been optimized by MOPS CLI and made ready for the Web with a single command line call.
From the original 115 MB OBJ file and 14.5 MB texture image, an optimized Web-ready version of only 235 KB in glTF format and 1.7 MB texture images has been created. During 3D optimization, the asset was geometrically simplified and textured with a base color map and a newly created normal map, baked from the high-resolution original data. In addition, MOPS CLI was also used to create a Web-ready viewer, in a fully-automatic fashion. The material used in this case was brushed, painted metal.
As can be seen from the second 3D viewer, the asset can also be exported in a ready-to-use format for other 3D visualization platforms, such as Sketchfab.
The following 3D asset, a 3D-scanned shoe, has been optimized by MOPS CLI and made ready for the Web with a single command line call.
During optimization, the asset was geometrically simplified and textured with a normal map, baked from the high-resolution original data, and it has been enriched with an occlusion texture.
The optimized Web version consists of only 20K triangles, consuming 371 KB in binary PLY format (excluding textures). The original version was a scan consisting of 12.4M triangles, with a size of 229 MB in binary PLY format, and did not have any color information.
